rovera Land Rover Bursary Winners: The Grand Alpine Tour

Watch the winners of the 2014 Land Rover Bursary, as they have been mapping the landscape of the Alps on their Grand Alpine Tour.

The bursary is run by the Royal Geographical Society on behalf of Land Rover and offers funding as well as the use of a 110 Defender vehicle for those who want to take a journey above and beyond their limits and boundaries.

For the purpose of the Grand Alpine Tour, the Defender was customised with a specially adapted roof to provide a stable base for the team to launch their UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle) and to support their GPS equipment. This, together with the vehicle’s capability in overcoming tough terrain, has allowed the team to journey across the entire length of the alps, discovering how the landscape has evolved over time.
